Hall Five-Hits Indians
SPOKANE, June 16 — Bob Hall outdueled Bill Samson in a fine pitchers match Monday as the Vancouver Capilanos got by the Spokane Indians 2-1 in a Western International League game.
Charley Mead singled in the fourth to drive in Buddy Hjelmaa with the game's first. Hjelmaa had walked, advanced to second on a sacrifice and then moved to third on a fly ball.
In the fifth, the Caps added a run on Len Tran’s double, followed by Jim Estrada’s single.
In the ninth, the Spoke’s Levi McCormack doubled, then scored when Doug Donnan doubled. But the rally ended when he was cut down trying to stretch it into a triple.
Bob Hall walked seven in notching the win.
Samson was the hard-luck loser, working a six-hitter and retiring the last 12 Caps in order.

SPOKANE, June 17—The Spokane Indians have optioned pitcher Bob Stevenson to the Santa Barbara Dodgers in the class C California State baseball league, Business Manager Denny Speilecy said Monday.
Outfielder Jim Phillips is en route from Pueblo, Brooklyn's class A farm term in the Western League, to replace Stevenson on the Indian roster, Speilecy said.
