SALEM, June 21 – Home runs helped Salem to an 8-3 victory over the Victoria Athletics in the Western International League on Saturday.
Salem took a two-run lead in the first inning on Al Spaeter’s single, Bob Moore double and a single by Lou Kubiak. Eddie Barr, just acquired from Wenatchee, poled a two-run homer in the fourth to give them a 4-0 lead.
Victoria for back into the game momentarily in the sixth when they scored all their runs with doubles by John Hooper and Jack Harshman and an error doing the bulk of the damage.
However, they lost all chance in the Salem half of the same inning when Dick Sinovic, Senator right-hander, cracked a three-run circuit blow in a pinch-hitting role to highlight a four-run outburst. Sinovic then took the mound and blanked the A’s for the rest of the distance.
Ray Fortier lasted the full game on the hillock for the losers and was tagged with his fourth loss in seven decisions.

SPOKANE, June 21 – Bob Morgan’s triple drove in Levi McCormick with the winning run in the ninth as Spokane defeated Bremerton tonight, 7-6 in the Western International League.

WENATCHEE, June 21 – A pair of two-run homer by Steve Andrade and Bob Williams paced the Wenatchee Chiefs to a 5-2 victory Saturday over the Vancouver Capilanos.

Salem Obtains Barr
SALEM, Ore., June 21 – The Salem Senators of the Western International League announced today that they had acquired Eddie Barr from the Wenatchee Chiefs.
The Senators have returned outfielder Hal Summers to Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League.
