Games of Thursday, May 1, 1947

Salem Blanks Athletics
SALEM, May 1 - Salem's Senators jumped back into the win column tonight and captured their present series with the Victoria Athletics as they whitewashed the visitors, 4-0, behind the seven-hit hurling of lefty Carl Gunnarson. Bill Woop went the route for the A's and gave up seven blows, but the Solons made them count.
The winners tallied first in the second inning on a pair of walks, a single, and Hank Bartolomei's long fly. They hammered over the final three in the sixth on hits by Lou Kubiak and Krug, followed by a double by Hal Summers which scored them both. Summers crossed the plate on Charlie Peterson's fly out.
Vic Mastro had three singles for Victoria.
