SALEM, April 20 - Ron Bryant held the Salem Senators to four hits, but the Vancouver Capilanos came out on the losing end of a 2-1 decision in the finale of a WIL double header. Salem swept the twin-bill with a 3-2 victory in the opener.
Vancouver's only run in the night game came when Bud Hjelmaa opened the seventh with a single off Dick Sinovic and slid under catcher Ted Kerr's tag after Bill Brenner doubled, though the umpire called him out. Tony Brodie went in to pinch-run for Brenner and scored on Bryant's fly ball.
In the opener, Frank Mullens lost two balls in the sun, each going for base hits to centre and contributing to Salem's three-run second, when they scored all their runs.
The Caps scored in the first and last innings. The final run came when Lee Mohr singled, moved to second on an error and scored on Len Tran's single. Mullens was issued a walk but Lou Estes grounded out to end the game.
Paul Soderburg scattered 11 hits in picking up the win, while Jack Meister took the loss.
